The Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Berkel en Rodenrijs in the Netherlands is a modern 50,000 m² warehouse – and a clear commitment to LKQ’s continued future success. But it’s not just a Dutch regional achievement. The size and scale of the facility plays an vital role in supporting LKQ’s European network and logistics. The CDC also plays an key role in the sustainability strategy of our company.
LKQ has participated in tree planting activities around the world. We work with OneTreePlanted, a non-profit environmental organization focused on global reforestation. A delegation of Belgian colleagues joined one of OneTreePlanted's local partners learning about ecolofical restoration and biodiversity conservation. Together, we planted over XXX trees in what will become a forest near Merchtem.
The LKQTour is an annual, two-day, 500km bicycle tour of Belgium with numerous LKQ branches participating throughout the country. The event was founded in 2021 by a group of colleagues at LKQ Belgium determined to do something positive for society. In 2023, 16 colleagues completed the cycling trip, peddling past nine LKQ branches.
The sponsored bicycle tour, inspired many other activities like the vintage car rally, a sponsored family walk, and a waffle and bicycle costume sale to raise money. Together, we raised €27,640 for Make-A-Wish Belgium – dedicated to making wishes come true for children between the ages of 3 and 18 with life-threatening diseases.
In 2020, our LKQ Benelux region linked up with the DaDa Foundation – an organization dedicated to providing additional care to children in hospitals and other institutions. In 2022, LKQ donated 2,500 cuddly toys to nine hospitals in cooperation with the DaDa Foundation. Four of our colleagues also ran the DaDa Foundation Run4Value Marathon in Rotterdam to raise €5,000.
The Roparun relay race is not for the faint of heart at over 500 km long. The name reflects the former starting city Rotterdam and the finish point in Paris. The race now only takes place in the Netherlands, following the Covid pandemic. This adventure of a lifetime sees teams race to raise money for cancer.
“Adding life to days, when days often can’t be added to life” is the motivating motto of this endurance event, which takes place over three days. The race is both physically and mentally exhausting but the good cause keeps everybody going in all weather conditions, from pouring rain to sweltering sun.
LKQ has participated in the event since 2018. In 2022, 20 colleagues ran and cycled, supported by a team of drivers and helpers who ensured there was ample food and places to rest during breaks.
In 2022, LKQ raised €35,000 for the charity.
